Willemite with Calcite and Franklinite

Item Description

A classic specimen of Franklin ore white Calcite, dark brownish-black Willemite and black Franklinite intergrown to create this attractive cabinet sized specimen. Upon close inspection, you can see some very well-formed Franklinite crystals on the piece, which we have photographed with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens. The Calcite fluoresces a vibrant red hue under SW UV light, and the Willemite fluoresces a brilliant green to creates that classic contrast from Franklin. When it comes to Franklin fluorescent minerals, Calcite and Willemite is as classic as it gets, and to have Franklinite on the specimen, just rounds this out as nice example of this famous material. The specimen was mined in 1960 according to the accompanying labels.
