Willemite var. Cadmian with Rosasite

Item Description

This display piece is a very rare example of the most uncommon Willemite color, yellow, induced by the presence of cadmium, and it was from a small, one-time find at Tsumeb. It features sharp 3 mm crystals of glassy and gemmy, lemon-yellow Willemite emplaced on matrix. Under fluorescent light the willemite is a very atypical medium brown color. The Rosasite occurs as tint blue green crystals on this mineralogically unique piece. In 25 years, I have only had under half a dozen examples of this Cadmian Willemite from Tsumeb. This is a truly rare specimen from only one pocket in the late 1970s or early 1980s and is discussed in Dr George Gebhard's Tsumeb II book.
