Willemite, Franklinite & Calcite

Item Description

Classic, rich and showy 2-fluorescent, 3 species specimen from the famous Franklin Mine of New Jersey. The front of the sculptural large piece is festooned with intergrown tiny, translucent, tan Willemite crystals and splendent jet-black Franklinite crystals. A thick vein of massive grayish-white Calcite is visible on the sides and back with another small patch of Willemite and Franklinite on the back. Neon-green SW UV willemite fluorescence and flaming-red SW UV calcite fluorescence. Formerly in the Bruce Smith Collection. Ex George Loud Collection No. 1070, a well-known Washington, DC and South Carolina mineral collector. He acquired the specimen from John in 1993.
