Item Description

The famous blue Willemites from Tsumeb are some of the most distinctive examples of the species, and considered to the finest colored specimens ever found. They are often gemmy, with rich color, and form in unusually spherical aggregates. This piece is a wonderful example of said material featuring several "balls" of sparkling, gemmy/translucent, vivid blue Willemite measuring up to 1.0 cm across, sitting on wonderfully contrasting reddish-brown host rock matrix. There are also some small rich reddish-brown aggregates of what is also Willemite that can be seen under magnification. The combination and contrast of two colors of Willemite is unique and beautiful. They fluoresce a vivid yellow hue under 365nm UV light.
