Willemite and Calcite

Willemite is one of the more sought-after species from Tsumeb, due in large part to its enchanting depth of colors and the high luster of the species from this location. Interestingly, this attractive small cabinet piece consists of scintillating, 2 to 3 mm, transparent to translucent, aqua blue Willemite crystals that completely cover the interior of the semicircular vug that hosts them. The beautiful blue color and sparkly luster is quite appealing, and the high luster accents the color and gives the piece a shimmering, drusy appearance. The Willemite is embellished with groups and isolated crystal composed of bright white Calcite rhombohedrons. The cluster at the left measures 1.4 cm across and the other scattered Calcites are from 2 to 4 mm across the diagonal. This is a fine, contrasting and unusual, Willemite from Tsumeb.
