Item Description
An ULTRA-RARE and OLD-TIME specimen from Finland and the Mullane Collection. Wiikite is a name applied to ill-defined mixtures and alteration products of minerals high in Nb, Ta, Ti, Si, and Y from pegmatites in the Impilahti parish on Lake Ladoga, Finland, associated with allanite and monazite. This area of Finland was ceded (taken by) to the Soviet Union in 1944. Named after Finnish geologist, F.J. Wiik (1839-1909). I have never heard of or seen this material before we obtained two pieces in the Mullane Collection. Value??
