Item Description

This specimen features a perfect, upstanding, and HUGE crystal of whitlockite (to 1.8 cm) on gormanite—an ULTRA-RARE phosphate. The cream color, accented with hints of blue-green, is exceptionally attractive. When these crystals were first collected in the Yukon, they were initially identified as large specimens of the already known species whitlockite. Later analysis suggested they were a new species, bobdownsite. However, subsequent research has confirmed that they are indeed (superb!) whitlockite after all. Such specimens usually sell in the $750-1000 range. Ex Anne & Bill Cook, Jingnan (Tom) Zhang.
