Item Description
Whiteite is a rare phosphate, and some of the most beautiful (and well known) crystals of the material are found in the Yukon Territory. This area is only accessible for a few months per year and is rather treacherous terrain for collecting specimens. This piece is hosts very attractive, large, fine quality, sharp, lustrous, monoclinic crystals of tan Whiteite with minor deep blue Lauzlite on the reverse side. I have not seen many of these specimens on the market in the last few years, so don't pass this one up as the crystals are big, robust and fine quality for the species. The piece comes with an old label from the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
