Item Description

This is a newly mined gem of what has been referred to locally as "White Plume Agate". The discovery was made near the Gunung Sawe mountain in East Java, Indonesia. The material is essentially translucent chalcedony/agate which plays host to beautiful "feathery" white inclusions or "plumes", hence the name. I'm told that this material is volcanic in origin, but I'm not certain if this is accurate. This particular stone was mined in April of 2022, and is one of only a handful that we acquired from our source. It's a fine quality and very attractive gem that I'm sure the vast majority of you don't have in your collections. I've never seen plume agate quite like this from anywhere else, as the material typically features darker colored "plumes", so the white colored material is rare. For the starting bid, this stone is priced at LESS than $3/carat, so it's a bargain for what it is.
