These gems are one of the few stones that look just as attractive when they are crystal clear as when they're opaque. Despite it's rather simplistic chemistry, Opals show a great range of color in many varieties. This "Oval cabochon" cut gem is what is often called "Crystal Opal", with a white background hosting flashes of gold, orange, greens blue, purple and pink. When this stone is strongly lit, it shows good color and the stone is a solid Opal, not a doublet or a triplet, which is important when it comes to value and pricing because solid Opals will always command a higher price per carat than a doublet or a triplet as long as the color saturation/quality are comparable.
