Item Description

Whewellite is a rare organic compound. It is a bizarre low-temperature primary hydrothermal mineral in carbonate-sulphide veins; also occurs in geodes, or septarian nodules; associated with coal measures and surrounding rocks with organic material; in some uranium deposits (MINDAT). This shapely intergrown thumbnail pair of lustrous, bright white, twinned triangular tapered prisms is accentuated by nice, striated faces. Specimens directly attributed to Shaft 371 are RARE, and this is the classic style of what they found (in the 1960s or 1970s, I think I was once told). Valued at $1000-1200, and a competitive quality thumbnail specimen!
