Item Description

Wherryite is a very rare lead copper sulfate, first discovered at the historic Mammoth-Saint Anthony Mine in Tiger, Arizona. The species was named in 1950 after the former President of the Mineralogical Society of America, Edgar Wherry. This piece hosts a soft green colored layer of Wherryite associated with blue Diaboleite. Super rare material, and never available on the market. If you collect rarities, micros, minerals from Tiger or just minerals of Arizona, don't miss out on this one! This is one of the VERY FEW pieces of this species that we've seen, and comes from the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
