Item Description

There is only one locality in the world that produced significant Weloganite crystals. The famous Francon Quarry produced these amazing piece a few decades ago, and they are prized by collectors for their unique form, unusual chemistry and beautiful crystallization. This piece features a fine quality, sharp, translucent, yellowish color crystal of Weloganite measuring 1.8 cm, aesthetically sitting on matrix. This is an extremely rare mineral, and good specimens are few and far between, especially on matrix. . Please note that this locality is close to the famous Mt. Saint Hilaire Quarry in Quebec, so sometimes these specimens are labeled as coming from MSH, but they are only found at Francon. Great quality, though the underside of the Weloganite is contacted where it detached from the pocket wall. Valued at $1,500.
