Item Description
A striking, highly unusual, nearly transparent, colorless and doubly terminated hourglass twinned gypsum crystal from the famous Lake Gilles of South Australia, Australia. The crystal is included with clay particles and the upper termination is a fishtail-twin. Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual gypsum crystal forms in the world. Very nearly pristine, with only trivial edge wear. Most certainly a VERY strange-looking specimen! It looks carved! See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection. Older material.
