Item Description

Some of the most aesthetic, displayable and fine quality specimens of Wavellite have come from the Siglo XX Mine in Bolivia as described by Mark Bandy. This specimen is from a find of this material dating back to 2011. This piece features many attractive, gemmy, rather lustrous, sphere-shaped radiating aggregates of Wavellite measuring up to about 5 mm across with colorless GEM QUALITY Quartz crystals on matrix. It is NOT common to find such lustrous and gemmy Wavellites like this from most mines around the world, but the Siglo XX Mine is one of the premier localities for the species in my mind. The quality of the spheres is good, especially when compared to finds from the last 30+ years at Siglo XX. A nice display specimen of an uncommon mineral, with good luster. Very minor roughness, overall the piece is in good shape.
