Wavellite (superb rare blue color)

The Avant Mine represents the oldest Wavellite deposit mined in Arkansas and it has produced some exceptional specimens historically over nearly 100 years. However, under the recent operations of James Zigras, a one of a kind pocket of BLUE wavellite was hit here in about 2014. This miniature consists of a rich teal-green, composite Wavellite mound consisting of numerous 3 to 4 mm, scintillating, low profile botryoids. The Wavelote is set on medium gray novaculite matrix for great contrast. There is absolutely no bruising to the display face, only minor contacting locally around the periphery. This is an exceptional miniature for the locality for its rich color and scintillating surface. This color has not been found since in the quality seen here. It is a rare and highly valued specimen, that stands out from all the historical pieces.
