Item Description
Some of the most aesthetic and displayable specimens of Wavellite have come from the Siglo XX mine in Bolivia as described by Mark Bandy. This piece does not disappoint dozens of sparkling, pale yellow color, sphere-shaped radiating aggregates which are associated with a few GEM quality Quartz crystals on black Cassiterite matrix. The vast majority of Wavellite spheres are totally undamaged and very attractive, and they even fluoresce under UV light! The largest sphere measures 1.1 cm across. One rarely finds a full coverage of Wavellites on matrix like this from Siglo XX, and this piece is actually from old mining, dating back to the 1970s. Ex Richard A. Kosnar collection, the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite.
