Wavellite (fine color and quality)

Wavellite is a well-known phosphate species, though you don't see a lot of fine quality display specimens from most localities. The famous specimens from the Avant area in Arkansas are certainly among the finest examples of the species ever found, as they have superb color and excellent form. Here we have an attractive and showy specimen featuring shimmering, beautiful blue-green Wavellite botryoids on matrix. There are many COMPLETE unbroken spheres of Wavellite which measure up to 8 mm across. Despite some roughness around the periphery, most of the Wavellites are remarkably complete on the central portion with great form. My favorite aspect of the piece is that the many of the spheres are complete and not contacted, which is honestly not that common for this material. You'll see a lot of incomplete and just plain broken spheres of Wavellite from the various localities in Arkansas, so when you find an attractive piece like this with full complete spheres, it means something. Classic material, and certainly some of the most beloved Wavellite in the world for color.
