Item Description
The mine at Huanuni is one of the largest tin mines in Bolivia and is a true sight to see. This mine is better known for its phosphate species, but most often one thinks of species like Vivianite and Ludlamite. Fine specimens of Wavellite is actually incredibly RARE from Huanuni. This piece is one of the best Wavellites that I've seen from Huanuni for the size and quality. A great coverage, of gemmy, cream-colored, lustrous, spherical aggregates sitting on Quartz, Sphalerite, Cassiterite and Pyrite matrix makes this a superb example of this very hard to find material. You don't see large specimens of Wavellite from Huanuni like this, especially in such great condition. A close up photo reveals a few small spots of beautiful "star"-like Quartz growths as well. This piece came out of the ground about 25 years ago, and is from the collection of Richard A. Kosnar. Don't miss out on this wonderful display specimen, especially if you're a Bolivian collector or if you collect phosphate species. Valued at $1400.
