Wavellite (classic material) (ex Henry de Linde Collection)

This piece is an attractive cabinet sized specimen of these beautiful Wavellites from the locality owned by Henry de Linde. Wavellite is known from many world localities, but the finest and most colorful specimens in the world are found in Arkansas. This piece features excellent, sparkling, beautiful rich blue-green colored "balls" of Wavellite measuring up to 8 mm across on a thin layer of matrix. My favorite aspect of the piece is that virtually all of the spheres are complete(!) and not contacted, which is not terribly common for this material. You'll see a lot of incomplete and just plain broken spheres of Wavellite from the various localities in Arkansas, so when you find a top piece like this, it means something. From the collection of Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019) of Hot Spring, Arkansas. Henry was one of the most prominent figures in the history of Arkansas mining and mineral collecting. Along with being a miner, mineral collector and an amateur mineralogist, de Linde was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Association mineral club. He was the owner of several key localities in Arkansas including the Diamond Jo Quarry (on the south rim of Magnet Cove), the type locality for Delindeite, which was named in his honor in 1987.
