Item Description
Wavellite is an uncommon phosphate species, but some of the most colorful and fine quality examples are those from Arkansas. This is a lovely toenail sized specimen of these beautiful Wavellites from one of the most well-known localities for the species. This piece features a fine quality, dark blue-green colored "ball" of Wavellite measuring 8 mm across on matrix. To be fair, the "ball" on this specimen is actually the central core of what was a larger spherical group of Wavellite, as you can see the outer "rings" pressed against the matrix. You'll see a lot of incomplete and just plain broken spheres of Wavellite from the various localities in Arkansas, so when you find an attractive piece like this with at least a partially complete sphere, it's still significant. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
