Wavellite (classic material)

Wavellite is an aluminum phosphate species, which was named in honor of Dr. William Wavell, an English scientist, in 1805. Since that time, (over the last 200+ years), the species has been found in a wide range of colors from various world localities. Without question, some of the finest specimens in terms of quality and COLOR are the famed examples found in localities around Avant, Arkansas. This piece is a wonderful display specimen featuring a solitary dark green Wavellite sphere measuring 1.7 cm across on matrix. What really makes the piece special is that the sphere is COMPLETE and unbroken. There are many examples of this material where the spheres unfortunately were contacted / broken, but THIS piece is in superb condition, not just for the material, but for the species in general. Rarely does one see a single complete "ball" on a specimen like this. Classic material, and certainly some of the most beloved Wavellite in the world for color.
