Wavellite (classic material)

A lovely specimen of these beautifully colorful Wavellites from Avant, Arkansas. Wavellite is a fairly well-known phosphate, which has been found in various world localities, some of, but some of the finest and most colorful specimens in the world are found in Arkansas. This piece features good quality, lustrous, gorgeous blue-green to soft blue colored radial "sprays" of Wavellite sitting on matrix. My favorite aspect of the piece is that a good number of the "sprays" are complete / unbroken, which is not terribly common in this material. You'll see a lot of incomplete and just plain broken spheres of Wavellite from the various localities in Arkansas, so when you find a piece like this, it means something. Good condition, just a bit of peripheral roughness where the piece was separated from the pocket wall.
