Wavellite (classic material)

A classic specimen of these beautiful Wavellites from Avant, Arkansas. Although Wavellite has been found in various world localities, some of, if not THE finest and most colorful specimens in the world are found in Arkansas. This piece features good quality, lustrous, gorgeous green colored "balls" and radial "sprays" of Wavellite sitting on matrix. My favorite aspect of the piece is that nearly all of the spheres are complete / unbroken, which is not terribly common in this material. You'll see a lot of incomplete and just plain broken spheres of Wavellite from the various localities in Arkansas, so when you find a piece like this with a rich coverage of undamaged "balls", it means something. The largest individual Wavellite sphere measures 8 mm across. No major damage to nearly all of the Wavellites, just a bit of peripheral roughness where the piece was separated from the pocket wall.
