Item Description
Old "Avant wavellite" from the 1950s-1970s is still a classic of USA minerals, unique in the world. This specimen is half of a pocket, split down the middle, and showing both natural surfaces of rounded wavellite (some with pocket stain of iron attached), as well as the typical "open spheres" of wavellite, opened in the middle during extraction - which is not so bad in this case, as you can see the radial pattern within. This, the patterning inside, is actually what made them so popular and interesting back in the day, and they remain unusual today.
