Wavellite

Item Description

Many discrete spheres of sparkling, rich, bright green Wavellite, to 7 mm are attractively scattered on a dove-gray matrix for great contrast. The scintillating, translucent spheres are nicely isolated on the matrix and accompanied by barely perceptible, less than 1 mm, solitary, but numerous, prismatic crystals of Wavellite that are reclined on the gray matrix. Flashes of the tiny crystals are noticeable with any incident light. The Wavellite is hosted by a large piece of novaculite rock which is common at these Arkansas Wavellite localities. From one of the old Arkansas collections we picked up years ago, this is an unusual piece because of the deep color and nice isolation of the balls> Valued $500-plus
