Item Description

This specimen is part of the 2020 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org. Thanks to all of our participants!

A deep vug in novaculite matrix is the host for extremely well-formed, rounded, slightly lustrous wavellite spheres, to 1 cm across. The color is the classic granny-apple green for which so many Arkansas wavellites are known. From recent mining at the Avant Quarry, now owned and operated by James Zigras.
