Item Description
Some of the largest and most displayable specimens of Wavellite have come from the Siglo XX mine in Bolivia as described by Mark Bandy. This piece is a unique specimen, featuring one of the few greenish colored Wavellites I have seen from this prolific locality. A predominant 8 mm, soft green color radiating aggregate of Wavellite sits in the center of the specimen, surrounded by soft cream colored smaller spheres of Wavellite which are sitting on Quartz. Most of the Wavellites from this mine are in the white in color, and even though the largest sphere is a soft shade of green (not a stark green hue), it's rare for the loclaity. The luster is certainly better than most I have seen from this locality, and the odd color makes for a really nice touch. Good quality all around and certainly a worthwhile add to a phosphate collection.
