Wavellite (2024 find)

Rich apple-green, translucent wavellite botryoids are aesthetically and richly clustered on the dramatic, large, sculptural brecciated shale matrix. The large botryoid is 1.5 cm across. This showy piece is from a NEW 2024 find at well-known Mauldin Mountain of Arkansas. The bit of contacting/bruising to the botryoids reveals and radial growth of the botryoids and adds character. Certainly minimally detracting in the context of this piece. A BONUS on the back has striking, coated botryoids. The piece displays well without aid on the side with the large piece of breccia matrix on the bottom. Classic material with rich green color, luster and aesthetics make this some of the finest wavellite in the world from James Zigras' Mauldin Mountain Mine. This is the best pocket they have found in literally a decade!
