Item Description

A gorgeous, 4.8 cm, bi-colored, tourmaline looks like a gemmy figurehead on the "bow" of this partially euhedral quartz crystal! The terminated, glassy, gemmy watermelon crystal has a rich cranberry core surrounded by the pretty mint-green rind. It really GLOWS when backlit. The translucent quartz is embedded with cleavelandite blades and broken tourmlines on the sides and back. There is a partial halo of brown lepidolites around the tourmaline. The base has been sawed to enhance the very considerable display quality. This is a striking, old-time Minas Gerais combination piece from 1960s or 70s finds.
