Item Description
A gorgeous, gemmy, lustrous, well-striated, 4.9 cm, watermelon tourmaline is strikingly perched upon one end of a large, glassy, doubly terminated quartz crystal. The large watermelon core is sheathed in beautiful, teal-blue, indicolite tourmaline. The lustrous termination is deeply colored with hints of fabulous electric-blue! The tourmaline is complete all-around : only very minimally impacted by modest termination edgewear; and (to be picky) an out-of-sight, broken minor sub-termination on the back. The sharp, euhedral quartz crystal is in excellent shape, being complete all-around, having only scattered trivial edgewear and modest contacting on one side. Outstanding old-time, 1974 material from Governador Valadares from the Robert Nowakowski Collection. He got it from an old collection, where it was purchased in 1974...$300 was expensive in 1974 for a "small" item from here! This should be a $2500 piece, at LEAST, today
