Item Description

Watermelon tourmalines are among the most desirable varieties from the recent finds at the famous Pederneira Mine. The gemmy and lustrous, vibrant, cranberry-red/pink core is sheathed in and capped by beautiful, gemmy, teal-blue tourmaline. The lustrous termination is very dark purple and another tourmaline once lay in the notch on the striking termination. The cleavelandite blades and purple lepidolites are a super accent. Complete all-around, a broken crystal is noted at the base and there are two very clean repairs. Many, if not most pegmatite specimens, such as this were broken by pocket forces, not from the mining process and repairs are well-accepted. A beautiful, colorful and classic watermelon tourmaline from this noted locale.
