Item Description
The Verchniy Mine is famed for its calcite specimens and this is a striking and excellent example. Both of the large, intergrown, blocky rhombs have multiple window pane faces, water-clear, while others are lightly frosted. A couple of the faces have the beautiful, "garden effect", looking to the back of crystal. Complete all-around and a nearly floater. The embedded, platy clays were the attachment points. A dramatic and highly representative calcite from this well-known mine. Difficult to photograph, due to the extreme transparency. Ex Daniel Trinchillo Sr. Collection, and formerly valued quite highly before that collection was broken up for sale and this ended up in a liquidation lot to us. Valued $750-1000. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
