Item Description

A really attractive and hard to find multi-phosphate association specimen from the famed Rapid Creek locality in the far northern part of the Yukon of Canada. This piece features a predominant group of very sharp, rather lustrous, beautiful bright blue-green crystals of Wardite measuring up to 1.0 cm, which are sitting on a matrix coated by dozens of pseudo-cubic (trigonal) crystals of the uncommon strontium aluminum phosphate species, Goyazite and if you look closely (I used a loupe to see them better), you can see tiny, translucent, very pale yellow colored prismatic crystals of Fluorapatite with characteristic striations on the prism faces. Additionally there are staple species from Rapid Creek present on the piece, i.e., brown Siderite and rich blue Lazulite. I did a quick cursory search on mindat.org, and I couldn't find another specimen with Wardite, Goyazite and Fluorapatite (Apatite) together on the same piece, so this is a fairly rare combo for this famous locality. I love the color in the Wardite almost a light Caribbean blue-green shade. Valued at $950.
