Item Description

A wonderful specimen of the classic Yukon phosphates featuring gemmy tetragonal (pseudo-octahedral) crystals of light greenish-yellow Wardite on a layer of brown rhombs of Siderite on matrix. The largest Wardite measures 1.7 cm across. The piece is in decent shape, though a couple of the Wardites are contacted, so the piece is not pristine. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
