Item Description

A rare, excellent and good sized specimen from the Kerch Peninsula. The interior of the fossilized mollusk shell features crystals of Vivianite in striking sprays of lustrous, variably-sized blades. Some the blades have very slight gemmy sections and colors range from black to blue-green. The matrix is a dense shell exterior fossil hash. This phosphate pod deposit is now mined through and gone. It is extremely rare to obtain specimens today of this quality. Ex. Wouter Van Tichelen and Marty Zinn Collections.
