Item Description

This mine has produced what are clearly some of the finest quality Vivianite specimens ever seen. This small cabinet size piece features several excellent, very sharp, rather lustrous, gemmy, deep emerald green, sword shaped "textbook" crystals of Vivianite with associated metamorphosed (silicified) Sandstone. I can't find any damage of note, maybe some tiny "Wilbers", but it's in superb condition. Keep in mind that over 75% of the specimens from this find have had SERIOUS damage problems, so this one is a BIG deal for its pristine condition. I have never seen specimens of this quality, color, luster and gemminess before, not only from Bolivia, but virtually any world locality. I value this one easily at $1,500+ for the quality, gemminess and overall condition. Ex Dave Bergman Collection. Dave is a Colorado miner (formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
