Item Description
A classic old specimen of this well known material. Keep in mind that superb specimens of vivianite are only found in a few worldwide localities. PURPLE is not a common color for vivianite from anywhere, and the Blackbird Mine has to be the premier producer of purple crystals in the world. This very rich specimen is totally covered with beautiful deep purple to bluish-purple color, translucent prismatic crystals on matrix. A green oxide coating covers many of the crystals. The sharpness and the luster is certainly good for this locality and the blades reach 1.7 cm. Pieces like this were mined from the 1940's to 1960's. Rich, choice and highly representative pristine material. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
