Item Description

Three generations of vivianite line the sculptural vug in ironstone matrix on this impressive and uncommon rich large specimen from Kerch. Teal-blue crusts are the first generation and are followed by the contrasting scattered patches of tiny dark blue blades. Clusters of larger third generation blades, to 1.3 cm, are a fine complement. Three generations of vivianite on a Kerch specimen are RARE and this is a fine large example. This iron-phosphate deposit is mined through and extinct. Specimens of this quality only come from recycled collections. Ex R.D. Mushlitz Collection.
