Item Description

An iconic Vivianite specimen from the Tomokoni Mine (adit) which is part of the Canutillos complex in Bolivia. These pieces started coming out around 2002-2003, and are clearly some of the best quality Vivianite specimens ever seen from any Bolivian locality. What makes them special is the sharpness and luster of the crystals, which is not often the case for a lot of Bolivian Vivianites, that often are either rounded, dull, dark or all three. This is a wonderful miniature size piece featuring a good quality, lustrous, dark blue-green, sword shaped "textbook" crystal of Vivianite with minor metamorphosed Sandstone. When backlit, the crystal shows a bit of internal translucency. It's important to remember that Vivianites should be kept away from light and moisture as much as possible to prevent them from darkening and possibly disintegrating. Keep in mind that over 75% of the specimens from this find have had SERIOUS damage problems. This piece is in great condition, and both sides of the crystal are undamaged, NO CLEAVES!
