Item Description
Idocrase is an old-time synonym for Vesuvianite. Glassy, gemmy to translucent, olive-green crystals with pretty yellow highlights, to about 6 mm, richly cover the matrix plate. A few rich orange, lustrous compound grossular garnets, to 6 mm, are a highly desirable combination. Classic combination material from Eden Mills and the Kay Robertson Collection # 6571. Kay acquired this piece from Pala Properties at the Tucson Show in 1972. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
