Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Vesuvianite from the little-known Kantiwa skarn locality in Afghanistan. This is the first specimen of this material that we've had to offer. It features notably sharp and well-formed crystals of incredibly dark greenish-black colored Vesuvianite measuring up to 1.3 cm, scattered over the white contrasting matrix. Most of the crystals are in very good condition, though there are some nicks / rough spots, so it's not completely pristine, but the damage is forgivable in order to have a piece from such a rare locality. This piece came in a recent lot we purchased, it was the ONLY one among a mixture of other minerals from Afghanistan, and stands out as a very good piece for anybody interesting in non-pegmatitic specimens from a nation that is well-known for its pegmatite localities.
