Vesuvianite (rare Italian locality!)

Exemplary and large, this 2.6 cm Vesuvianite crystal has an unusual, complex, and well-formed habit that is accentuated nicely by the rich brown color and excellent luster. The crystal even has some translucence and a hint of gemminess that creates some internal sparkle near the terminations. This very fine miniature bears great resemblance to the Vesuvianites from Dosso Degli, so there might be some question as to the exact location within Italy and the old label may need corrections, But there is no question as to the quality of this Italian Vesuvianite.
