Item Description
A modern classic, now actually about 30 years old as they came out in the 1980s, this is a bicolored vesuvianite from the Jeffrey Asbestos Mine in Quebec. It is remarkable for the robust and large crystal (1 inch, 2.4 cm tall) in the middle, and for the color spectrum. The green tip is chromium rich and the purple body is manganese rich, which luckily results in something beautiful in this case! Having the two colors, each fairly strong, in a single crystal, is very uncommon. This is a well balanced miniature from the Jack Halpern Collection. Valued $1500-1800.
