Vesuvianite (ex Allen Heyl Collection)

Item Description

A cool reference specimen of Vesuvianite from this old time locality in Maine that dates back to the mid 1800s. The piece features sharp, lustrous, striated prisms of dark olive-green Vesuvianite with minor Calcite. The piece is a bit crude, but still good sized and hard to find on the market. From the collection of Allen Heyl, the namesake for the species Aheylite, whose label states that he obtained this piece in 1935.
