Item Description
The famous, and immense Jeffrey Mine in Quebec is one of the most well-known Canadian localities. This now-closed large open pit locality for decades was the source of some of the world's finest and most colorful Vesuvianite crystals ever seen. Due to the fact that the locality is now completely closed, specimens are much harder to find on the market than they were even a few years ago. This piece is a classic example of the famous bright green crystals seen from the locality, featuring a 2.5 cm crystal with excellent, very sharp, highly lustrous faces and that vivid green color for which the material is known, associated with several additional Vesuvianites to create a showy miniature display specimen. While green is the predominant hue, there are small areas of magenta colored Vesuvianite, which is due to manganese content in the crystals. The piece is in good shape, as the front/display side is mostly undamaged, but not complete on the edges and the back where it was separated from the pocket wall.
