Item Description

A showy and excellent combination from this less well-known area of New York. Blocky, variably brown, lustrous, vesuvianite crystals to 2.5 cm with flashes of gemminess are strategically clustered atop granular vesuvianite matrix that includes massive calcite, a 1.0 cm fragment of a glassy, colorless, apatite crystal (bright yellow fluroescence) on the back and a few tiny, glassy, elongated, light green augite crystals. The calcite has modest straw-yellow fluorescence. The base has been sawed to enhance the display. Rare combination material from this locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection.
