Item Description
Here's something that you don't typically expect from Park County, Colorado. A unique and attractive specimen of Clinothulite and Vesuvianite (with minor Quartz) from Tarryall Springs (Dorothy Group Prospect). Clinothulite is a actually a trivalent manganese bearing variety of the Epidote group species, Clinozoisite, although many people mistakenly refer to it as simply Thulite which is typically not found in granitic pegmatites. Thulite is a pink manganian variety of Zoisite, and even though it has been reported from Park County in the 1114 update, it could very well be Clinothulite. This piece is the only specimen of this material that I've seen. It comes from Dean Allum who collected it in 2013. Beautiful and unusual for Colorado. If you're a species / variety collector, don't miss out on this one, especially if you have a taste for Colorado minerals!
