Item Description
This is a fine matrix specimen for the rare old locality from ancient mineralogy textbooks, of three Vesuvianite crystals, on matrix. The crystals are spaced such that one can fully appreciated their distinct, prismatic habit with attractive and interesting beveled edges. The luster is high, and the deep, honey-brown color shows nicely when the terminations are well-lit. The largest crystal is 1.3 cm, and with crystals on opposite sides, this small cabinet piece displays well from either side. In looking at the third contacted crystal, please note the dramatic growth rings that are so evident where it was once abutted by another Vesuvianite crystal. ex George Elling Collection.
