Item Description
The older label indicates that the specimen is from Jalostoc (Xalostoc), Morelos, Mexico, but MINDAT does not list vesuvianite from this very obscure Mexican locale. This sharply terminated, highly lustrous, partially gemmy, mottled honey-brown, tetragonal crystal is most likely from Sierra de Cruces, source of the beautiful raspberry grossular garnet crystals. Complete all-around and pristine, the nifty side car is partially contacted, but has no damage, per se. A classic example of the species and locale.
